A Bit About Me
I was born in Durban, South Africa, where I was raised in a warm and close-knit Jewish community. My father served as the Gabbai of the Durban United Hebrew Congregation on Silverton Road, and from him I inherited a deep sense of tradition, responsibility, and connection to community.
I married Myrna Cooperman, and together we built a beautiful life with our three sons—Steven, Jonathan, and Bradley. Myrna passed away in 1999 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Some years later, I was fortunate to find love again and marry Diane Litchen.
We are enjoying a wonderful life together, surrounded by family and friends, and until my kidney failure, we spent time each winter in Mexico, which brought us both great joy. I am the proud grandfather of nine and a great-grandfather to one.
My family is the center of my life. I love reading, spending time with my wife, children and grandchildren, and following baseball—especially when I can watch a game with one of my grandchildren. Unfortunately, I’ve had a difficult reaction to the dialysis, which has severely impacted my quality of life. That’s why I am now pursuing a kidney transplant, with the hope of regaining the energy and vitality to continue enjoying the people and moments that mean so much to me.

My kidneys begin to fail
I begin with peritoneal dialysis, which I had to stop due to fluid buildup on my lungs.
I start hemodialysis, going 3 times a week. Unfortunately, I have reacted badly to this kind of dialysis.
Now I am turning to you to help me find a life-saving match!
