A Bit About Me
I am Lyudmila “Mila” Salganov, and my life has always been defined by resilience, warmth, and family. Born in Kiev in the former Soviet Union, I shared a loving 38-year marriage before losing my husband to complications of diabetes. Since then, I have remained the heart of my family, carrying forward my European and Jewish heritage with strength, wisdom, and compassion. To my loved ones, I am far more than a patient, I am the person who keeps our traditions, memories, and spirits alive.
My greatest joy has always been my four grandchildren. From cheering at ballet and gymnastics recitals to offering guidance, comfort, and home-cooked meals, I have tried to be a constant presence in their lives. Whether in the kitchen, the garden, or celebrating family milestones, my love has always been hands-on and wholehearted.
Today, daily dialysis has taken a tremendous toll on my health and energy, making it harder to be there for the people I love. A kidney transplant would mean more than a medical procedure, it would give me the chance to return to the active grandmother and family anchor I have always been. More than anything, I hope for more time to celebrate life’s moments with the family I have spent my lifetime building.
