A Bit About Me

I grew up in Toronto in a traditional Jewish family and community with fond memories of learning to daven at a very early age from the lap of my “later schpaider” great grandfather. My upbringing, cheder, Bar Mitzvah and life experiences solidified my Jewish identity and spirituality and has given me a strong sense of community.

I received my degree from the Faculty of Forestry at the University of Toronto and made my way to Edmonton where I worked for the Alberta Forest Service and soon after was blessed with meeting and marrying my wife and best friend, Eve. I was transferred to the forestry office in Calgary and was afforded the opportunity to further my education at the University of Calgary, where I graduated from the Faculty of Law and was called to the Bar in 1995. During our time in Calgary, Eve and I were blessed with our son, Corbin.

Our faith and spirituality have been and continue to be an important part of our lives. We are grateful for the friends we have made and the communities that that we have been a part of over the years. I was also able to give back to our community by serving on our shul’s board of directors and leading services from time to time. I have also been a parent representative on the Talmud Torah Elementary School Board where our son attended.

During this journey with my wife, son, our family pets and friends, my parallel journey with kidney failure began. With modern medicine, the ultimate generosity of others and hashgacha pratit, I am hopeful that there will be a donor match for me and for a successful renal transplant. I still have so much to do and so much more to give back and I’m looking forward to spoiling some grandchildren.
